Upgrading Blue Lagoon Road

The Blue Lagoon is a unique feature of St. George.  The SGRP proposes to enhance pedestrian connections between the Old Port and the Spice Island Marina and Islander Hotel areas.  We propose to create a boulevard type pedestrian walkway that is the logical extension to the Carenage Boulevard and the “The Old Port” development.  Presently, the Blue Lagoon does not have a continuous attractive pedestrian path that highlights the beautiful views and urban importance of this attractive water feature of St. Georges.

Improvements to the pedestrian environment will include new sidewalks and pedestrian paths, pedestrian lighting, seating areas, lush landscaping to include palm trees that will not block the beautiful views of the Blue Lagoon and St. George, and limited on-street parking to allow easier access to this natural resource.  The project will also improve the environmental conditions of the Blue Lagoon by providing water’s edge stabilization through the construction of a sloped “rip-rap” or stone edge along the Blue Lagoon waterfront.
