This is a major component of the St. George's Revitalization Project which is intended to enhance the beauty of the Carenage by reducing the traffic congestion which now plagues what has become known as one of the most picturesque harbours anaywhere in the Caribbean.
Only about a half mile in length, this feature will run from the round-about at the Botanical Gardens through to River Road. It will relieve the noise and congestion in the city center and keep the rapidly increasing flow of heavy vehicles away from residential areas such as San Souci Road and Archibald Avenue.
With the resulting reduction in traffic on the Carenage, the waterfront could be developed into an atmosphere which is more attractive to pedestrians, and foster the opening of new shops, restaurants and other tourist attractions.
